By-election result[edit]

This article is repeatedly being subject to attempts to spin the by-election in a misleading way. In 2016, Joyce faced Tony Windsor, the long-term incumbent MP from the seat. At the by-election, Windsor did not contest and all his opponents were low-profile. This is even noted in the headline of the sources being cited by the misleading additions. Every politician in a seat with a strong partisan lean who faces a strong, high-profile candidate at one election and low-profile opposition at the next gets a large swing in their favour, and attempting to spin that as a personal victory will always be disingenuous spin. I have no objection to mention of a large swing with the same caveat as the ABC that it was against low-profile opposition, but the repeatedly edit-warred edits are a major NPOV violation. The Drover's Wife Is consistently objecting to the use of "with a large primary and two-party swing" as stated on the 2017 New England by-election and referenced by links to ABC News (Australia) and SBS World News, both well-established reliable sources. Yes - except that you've removed the caveats on that result that those organisations reported, which completely changes the implication of the sentence. Citing well-established reliable sources doesn't help if you're misrepresenting what they've reported so the text skews a particular way. The Drover's Wife (talk) 12:33, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[]
The Drover's Wife Please specify precisely what caveats you are alluding to.Sampajanna (talk) 12:38, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[]
For the third time, the headline of your own source says and I quote "Barnaby Joyce declares victory in New England with huge swing against low-profile opponents". Removing the "against low-profile opponents" completely changes the meaning of that sentence. The Drover's Wife (talk) 12:55, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[]
The Drover's Wife There appears to be some confusion. The following with a large primary and two-party swing is what I have been including. You have already conceded (above) that you have no objection to mention of a large swing against low-profile opposition. This has now been added. Sampajanna (talk) 14:00, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[]
